Our purpose is to be a reference for Portuguese wines at international level by conferring a particular identity to different wines in which consumers can rely on.

We also wish to offer all our clients in different countries wines that best represent each Portuguese region where we operate: Alentejo, Beiras, Douro and Vinhos Verdes.

WINES PRESENT THROUGHOUT THE WORLD

João Portugal Ramos' wines are present throughout the world, being sales leaders of Portuguese wines in some countries.
Today, the winemaker works side by side with two of his five children, João Maria in the oenology area and Filipa in the marketing department, continuing the family business.

2017
"WINE LORD" AWARD

In the year in which João Portugal Ramos Group celebrates 25 years, its founder receives “Senhor do Vinho” (Wine Lord) Award from one of the most renowned Portuguese publications in the sector - Revista de Vinhos. It is also in 2017 that there is the need to enlarge Vila Santa winery for the third time, receiving six new marble lagares to allow a greater number of red wines to be foot trodden, centralizing in Estremoz the bottling processes of all wines in the Group and also increasing the storage capacity for bottled wines.

2016
CR&F BRAND ACQUISITION

The João Portugal Ramos Group starred in one of the largest beverage transactions of the year in Portugal, bringing the centenary CR&F - Carvalho Ribeiro & Ferreira brandy brand back to Portuguese hands. In this way, it extends the group's wine, olive oil and vinegar portfolio to brandy.

SECOND GENERATION STARTS WORKING FOR THE GROUP

It is in the 2014 harvest that João Maria (João Portugal Ramos’ son) joins the Alentejo oenology and production team at J. Portugal Ramos. In 2015, together with his father, he launches the Pouca Roupa brand.

THE FIRST ALVARINHO BY JOÃO PORTUGAL RAMOS

The winery in Vinho Verde region is built and the first João Portugal Ramos Alvarinho is released in Portugal and abroad.

The start of a new project in Vinho Verde region designed for international markets.

2007
DUORUM PROJECT IS BORN

Duorum begins. An innovative project in the Douro region set up by two highly respected Portuguese winemakers, João Portugal Ramos and José Maria Soares Franco. A project with ambition and dimension to stand out in the Portuguese and international markets.

QUINTA DE FOZ DE AROUCE IN LOUSÃ BECOMES PART OF THE GROUP

Although João Portugal Ramos had been for many years the winemaker responsible for the production and distribution of his in-laws wines, the Counts of Foz de Arouce, it was not until 2005 that Quinta de Foz de Arouce in Lousã, Beira Baixa, officially becomes part of the group.

VILA SANTA WINERY ENLARGEMENT

Vila Santa winery, in Estremoz, is enlarged and now comprises 9.000 square meters having a modern vinification technology, a bottling area and cellars with approximately 300 French, American and Hungarian oak barrels used for ageing the wines.

1997
THE CONSTRUCTION OF VILA SANTA WINERY IN ESTREMOZ

The construction of the Vila Santa winery in Estremoz begins. It is also in 1997 that the first Marquês de Borba Reserva is made and in the following year the Colheita is born, which, to this day, remains the strongest brand in the group showing unwavering consistency year after year.

FIRST HARVEST

The first harvest dates from 1992 and in the following years the wine is produced in rented buildings until 1997 when the vinification takes place in the new estate for the first time. The first brand of the group is born from this first harvest - Vila Santa.

THE FIRST HECTARES OF VINEYARD PLANTED IN ESTREMOZ

João Portugal Ramos starts his personal project by planting the first 5 hectares of vineyards in Estremoz, where he lives since 1988. João Portugal Ramos choses Estremoz to make his own wines, after a long career as consultant winemaker in the main wine-growing regions of Portugal.

CONSULVINUS

Benefiting from his accumulated experience, João Portugal Ramos establishes Consulvinus at the end of the 80's to attend the various requests from several producers all over the country. In this way, Consulvinus extends its activity beyond the Alentejo region to Tejo, Península de Setúbal, Dão, Beiras and Lisboa, participating in the development of distinguished Portuguese wines and revitalizing regions that were sinking to oblivion by wine-lovers and consumers.

JOÃO PORTUGAL RAMOS STARTS HIS CAREER AS A WINEMAKER

Born into a family with a long history of wine production, João Portugal Ramos obtained a degree in Agronomy from the Superior Institute of Agronomy, in Lisbon. After a period of training at the National Viticulture Studies Centre in Dois Portos, in 1980, he begins his career as an oenologist in the Alentejo region.
